I was just talking about fake plastic flowers with ~liquidanxiety tonight, so it's funny that I just did a shoot with a giant fake rose.
Some of you know I fly by the seat of my pants a lot with photo taking, and have to take stuff from the models house to make the pictures interesting. (see "Species" photo haha) Anyways she had a giant rose. I thought it was cool.
Anyways this is the line about plastic flowers we were talking about. She asked me to write a critique for her, and I stole one of her lines and added it at the end.
Hope told me that she required a friend, parent, or alien from outerspace to critique her work along with her essay on peter pan. I am none of those, so as to the reason she asked me to have the honor of doing so, I guess only she could explain. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that someone like me thinks of the peanut butter brand instead of the boy who never ages when the name Peter Pan is brought up. Perhaps not.... Regardless, I for some reason or another accepted, and went back and read a couple of her works including Adam, She, Human Error, and Edge. I'm not sure what good assigning students to get a forced crituqe does, because I can barely remember what I just read, and I'm sure that goes for just about anyone who has been asked, including those closest to you. Sure Hope it's good, it's awesome, it sucks, change this, change that, needs work, needs more, needs less, ok that's good I like it, smile, smile, done. Congratualtions someone who doesn't give a fuck about what you write talked to you about your writing.
Whatever I say to you, I hope it doesn't matter, I hope you have emotions when you write, and when you read it back to yourself you have those emotions over again. I hope you learn from your own understanding, and try to put that understanding into words the best way you know how. I hope you don't let people tell you that everything that can be said has already been said, because they're wrong. I hope you don't let yourself believe the Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde are the best writers in history, and that you're not smart enough if you don't understand them. I hope you never believe that someone else could tell you how to write better or not. And I hope you're never as shady as fake plastic flowers, and run away to neverland, because growing up is the best critque you're ever going to get.
I adore the way you write. I can't look away from the text when I read your stories and writings.
As for the photo, I love the contrast between all the colors.
